History

SB Electronic Systems was founded in 1971. In its early days the Company developed the Telepen barcode symbology. Telepen is renowned for its readability and accuracy, and is used in applications such as access control, libraries, stock control and asset tracking.

Over the last thirty years, the Company has designed and manufactured a wide range of barcode scanners. Telepen laser scanners became the industry standard in many fields. The Telescan portable scanner also offered RF as an option. In fact, the Telescan has proved so popular that the Company has designed a second generation portable that will include a powerful application generator program to enable the untrained  user to create their own data capture program.
 
During the mid-nineties, the Company developed the SENTRY access control system for the academic library market. The software provides first-class analysis of visitor data for the librarian, and utilises the very best in turnstile technology provided by Gunnebo Mayor. The system has been developed and refined, and it is now installed in over 80 sites in the UK and Ireland making it easily the number one product for the academic and institutional library markets.
