Codeco can offer a hybrid model of the Mark3 self-check machine to libraries that intend to make use of RFID Tags in future. The advantage of this library machine implies that items registered can be a mix of barcode labels and chips. The machine is capable itself of applying these two different techniques, and identifying which one to use in each specific case. The advantage to the library is that any migration from barcode to RFID can be carried out over an extended period of time. This avoids the expensive investment in RFID tags having to be carried out as a one-off exercise.

It is also possible to upgrade Codeco's standard MARK3 automatic library machine to comply with both barcode and RFID technology at the same time. More-over, the built-in RFID reader is capable of reading various chip brands (including a mixture of different RFID chips).

Self Issue
The patron places their card in the card reader which is located straight in front of the screen. After that, the PIN-code is entered. If the patron is confirmed, the Mark3 will allow registration of items. When items have been registered either in bulk (RFID) or one by one (barcode), the lending process is terminated by removing the patrons card. Finally, a receipt for the items borrowed is automatically printed.

Self Return
Returning of items can take place without the patrons card and PIN-code. The system is from the start aware, who has borrowed the items in question. The patron returns the items either in bulk (RFID) or one by one (barcode). The Mark3 is able to guide the borrower in sorting, so that any reserved return items are sorted out from all the other items. This feature is of great assistance to the library staff in their further handling of the items.

If the patron requires a receipt upon finalised registration of returned items, the "RECEIPT" key is pressed, and a receipt for the return is printed. The patron can also get a print of the loan status for items borrowed.

The cabinet
The MARK3 cabinet is delivered in it's standard color, anthracite. However, it can also be delivered in special colors upon request. We can also offer to mount and install the self-service electronics in the library's own furniture, if preferred.

System Integration
The Mark3 works with most electro-magnetic book security systems including 3M and Sensormatic. The system also works with RFID tags. Communication with your library system is through SIP2 or Z39.70, and links are in place with all leading library management system suppliers.
